The Little Fangs Chapter 3

Chapter 03
Chapter 03
*

The beautiful vampire pulled me aside to a quiet corner and immediately scolded, “A vampire like you getting ‘kidnapped’ by a human aren’t you ashamed?”

The other one chimed in, “Yeah. Just drink and run, they never remember anyway.”

I meekly raised my hand. “I’m not actually that close to him…”

The beautiful vampire glared. “Who are you kidding? We saw you two together all night.”

I tried to argue, “But he remembers I bit him…”

Now it was their turn to be shocked.

They chattered away, debating what that could mean, but got nowhere.

Before leaving, they handed me their contact info.

As they walked away, the beautiful one teased, “Girl, that blood bag of yours is top-tier.”

Suddenly, Lin Yuchen appeared behind me, pinching my cheek and turning my face to his. He even brushed the corner of my mouth and said, “Sneaking snacks without me?”

I swatted his hand away, rubbing my sore cheek. “Vampires don’t bite their own kind.”

Lin Yuchen stared thoughtfully at the two vampires as they left.

I tugged him toward the next ride, and we didn’t head home until we were both exhausted.

Collapsing onto the sofa, I groaned, “I’m dead tired.”

Lin Yuchen sat next to me, holding out his hand, eyebrow raised.

I took his hand, concerned. “Maybe you should start taking supplements tomorrow? Too much blood loss isn’t healthy.”

His eyes immediately cooled, and he tried to pull his hand back, but I held on.

Another day, another full meal.

Lin Yuchen and I lay on the sofa watching Twilight.

It had been ages since I felt this kind of warmth.

He heard me sniffling and ruffled my hair. “Why are you crying over a movie?”

I burst into tears. “I miss my mom.”

I expected him to tease me, as usual, but he didn’t.

Instead, he gently pulled me into his arms. “Want to see my childhood photos?”

He brought out a thick photo album, and I curled up beside him, flipping through each picture.

I couldn’t help but reach out and touch a photo of young Lin Yuchen. “You were so pale and cute as a kid. Must have tasted delicious.”

Lin Yuchen: “…”

The further we went, the fewer photos there were. As he grew up, he looked more and more refined.

Suddenly, a photo made me pause.

It was a group shot of three people.

I pulled it out and looked closer.

Of course, the child was Lin Yuchen, the woman on his left was his mother, Hu Yuen, but the young woman on his right looked exactly like me.

I turned to Lin Yuchen, confused.

He sighed. “You really don’t remember, do you?”

I hesitated, not wanting to admit my memory is about as long as a goldfish’s.

He was silent for a moment, then put the photo back and turned the page.

I interrupted. “Didn’t know you had a sister as pretty as me.”

Lin Yuchen: “…”

His voice was low. “Why do you think I let you drink my blood and brought you home?”

I answered, “Because you’re handsome and kind.”

He rolled his eyes. “Don’t flatter me.”

He continued, “When I saw you at the bar, you looked familiar. After I went to your place, I was sure.”

I was still lost.

He rubbed his forehead. “Where else in the world could you find another vampire who looks just like you? And just as dumb as back then.”

I shot back, “How can you be so sure?”

“Seven years ago, I caught you biting my mom. She never remembered it afterward.” Lin Yuchen’s gaze was steady.

So that’s why your blood is so delicious, good genes run in the family.

Lin Yuchen hugged a pillow, his voice tinged with grievance. “Why did you disappear seven years ago?”

With his reminder, memories from that time slowly surfaced.

I relaxed into the sofa. “I didn’t just vanish. Didn’t I leave a note saying I was going traveling?”

“What’s the difference between a sudden trip and disappearing?”

I turned to look at the sunset outside the window, a wave of melancholy washing over me.

“Human lives are so short. I once tried telling friends my real identity, but it only ever brought them fear. Eventually, I realized that even short friendships can be happy.”

I closed my eyes, lashes casting shadows on my cheeks, and whispered, “Living too long is really lonely.”

Lin Yuchen slumped beside me. “I’m not afraid.”

For once, the guy who’s usually so sharp-tongued was gentle, cutting through the gloom with a warm breeze.

He leaned closer and murmured, “Why didn’t you choose me, back then?”

I looked at his handsome face and pushed him away. “I don’t bite minors.”

I mentally did the math on his age.

Lin Yuchen must have guessed what I was thinking, lips curling. “I’m twenty-one now. Totally biteable.”

His interruption chased away my sadness.

Even a vampire should live happily.

He told me that after I left, his mother was down for a long time.

Then he grinned. “I’m calling my mom right now.”

I immediately pounced, covering his mouth. “No! Don’t tell her”

I looked at him, flustered. “Don’t I don’t want her to know.”

“Know what?” Lin Yuchen teased.

“That I turned her son into a walking blood bag.”

In my memory, his mother Hu Yuen was always so gentle and elegant.

Only then did I realize I was sitting on Lin Yuchen’s lap, our posture rather ambiguous.

I shot him a warning look and quickly retreated to my corner of the sofa.

I bought all sorts of blood-nourishing ingredients for Lin Yuchen and asked Auntie Wang to make him plenty of tonic soups.

After several days of this, Lin Yuchen looked positively radiant, lounging on the sofa.

I knelt next to him, sniffing left and right.

Mmm, he really did smell delicious.

Lin Yuchen half-closed his eyes, watching me with a smile in those deep black pupils.

Wait....why is my chin wet?

Oh, right, that’s my drool.

I grabbed his hand and gave him my sweetest smile, voice unconsciously softening. “Let me have a sip from your neck?”

He chuckled, pulling me into his arms with a hand on the back of my head.

By reflex, I wrapped my arms around his waist, curling up in his embrace.

I tilted my head, gently bit his neck, and drank. Lin Yuchen let out a low, muffled sound.

I licked away the last drop of blood, and the wound healed instantly.

Burp..... So full.

I shifted to a more comfortable position, nestling in his arms.

Sleepiness hit me right after eating, and I was out in three seconds.

When I woke up, it was already late morning.

I sat on Lin Yuchen’s bed, dazed.

Just then, he came out of the bathroom, hair still wet.

I hurriedly pulled the blanket up to my chin, looking like some innocent maiden. “Why am I on your bed? A guy and a vampire sharing a bed....what would people think?”

He paused. “You watch too many soap operas.”

That’s when I noticed his robe was loosely tied, exposing a broad expanse of pale chest.

Seriously, who could resist such a tempting breakfast?

I scrambled off the bed to wash up, then ran back to him.

“A new day has started. I’m ready for breakfast, did you make any?”
